I am untrained. I don't know the rules. But I'm a great storyteller, and I'm pretty clever with words. Collaboration and creativity are key to my work. Here's what I've been up to.

marketing, branding, shaping

I used to be a snob.

I'm no longer a snob -- at least about branding.

In my short time in this field, I've come to love the challenge of discovering the true identity of a product or company, and helping it reveal itself to the world. I have no formal training, and that's my main asset. I bring my tremendous experience as a writer -- books, magazines, newspapers, stories, unpublished novels, and untold messages via many mediums -- to an area that needs fresh words. It's exciting.

Collaboration, with editors, subjects, designers and creative directors, has always been at the heart of my work. I didn't inherit the diva gene, though I'm good at helping diva's accomplish their goals.

In the past year, I've been fortunate to work with some amazing talents:

Charlotte Beers, former head of Ogilvie and J.Walter Thompson, first pushed me in this direction. Nice idea, Charlotte.

Marty Cooke, creative King, gave me my first work, at Rapp. I've learned a lot from this guy, including how to steer a fast car around a tight corner.

Rokkan, a busy digital agency in SoHo, trusted me to write copy for some of their innovative digital work. It's been a fantastic collaboration.

And the legendary Ty Montague trusted me with a long-form project dear to his heart at Co: Collective. He also hired me to write and edit a new blog for one of Co's business ventures, an interesting place called Grind. Now we're developing another project together that has incredible potential. But it's still a baby.
